This tape is awesome.  Bhajan (devotional) music has really captured my attention lately and this is a really fun example.  This musical group seems to have something to do with Śri Sathya Sai Baba but the internet is not being too terribly clear on that point.  My copy is without an insert so I found the tracklist on the internet at the link above.  I hope it's accurate.

I've got a real treat for you all today.  Two of my top 5 Bollywood soundtracks on the same tape!  They fit together very nicely.  Mostly Mohammed Rafi solo songs, which is great in my book.  Shankar & Jaikishan (the composer duo) do a great job of fusing Parisian and Tokyo styles into the music while keeping true to Bollywood sound we all love.  I've said it once and I'll say it again: 60's Bollywood is solid gold.  If you only get one Bollywood tape from this blog, make it this one.

Here it is folks, volume 2!  Fewer tracks on this one but it's about quality not quantity.  And this one has plenty of quality.  I think I like this one better than volume 1.  Lots of beautiful sitar/veena work.  There's just something special about the old Bollywood stuff from before the time of widely-used synthesizers.  For more information on the lyricists and the films the songs come from, check the scan of the back of the j-card in the download.  All songs composed by Madan Mohan and sung by Lata Mangeshkar.

Beautiful Indian Classical music with superb vocals by the magnificent Sanjeev Abhyankar.  This release was put out 1 year after his 6-year hiatus but it's unclear when it was recorded.  The FLAC files turned out to be quite large so I had to split Side B into 2 files.

This is a Bollywood soundtrack from a much more recent movie than I will usually be posting (1996).  The movie was a huge flop.  I guess it lost a bunch of money and nobody liked it.  Despite this, the soundtrack kicks ass.  Synth-laden pop tunes and slow love ballads.  Enjoy it, y'all!

Here we have an excellent compilation of duets performed by the great Asha Bhosle and Mohammed Rafi between 1957 and 1967.  For more information about the composers, lyricists, and the movies that the songs come from, check the info card inside the download.  This cassette is the first of many to be posted here from the "His Master's Voice" label.  I have about 20-30 Bollywood soundtracks from that label, mostly from the 60s and 70s.
